چکیده

Groundwater is a crucial source of water supply due to its continuous availability, reasonable natural quality, and being easily diverted directly the poor community more cheaply quickly. The West Arsi Zone residents remain surface dependent traditional exploration groundwater, which tedious approach in terms resources time. This study uses remote sensing data geographic information system techniques evaluate groundwater potential area. technique fast, accurate, feasible technique. recharge zone influencing parameters were derived from Operational Land Imager 8, digital elevation models, soil data, lithological rainfall data. Borehole used for results validation. With spatial analysis tools, affecting (LULC, soil, lithology, rainfall, drainage density, lineament slope, elevation) mapped organized. weight according percent influence on was determined by Analytical Hierarchy Process their relative influence. For weights allocated each parameter, consistency ratio obtained 0.033, less than 0.1, showing parameter acceptable. In weighted overlay analysis, point view, land use/cover, lithology are equally important account 24% each, while group has lowest influence, accounts only 2% this study. generated map four ranks, 2, 3, 4, 5, classes Low, Moderate, High, Very respectively, based availability rank class. area coverage 9825.84 ha (0.79%), 440,726.49 (35.46%), 761,438.61 (61.27%), 30,748.68 (2.47%) area, respectively. Accordingly, western part district expected have very high potential. High concentrated central parts whereas moderate distribution dominant eastern validation result 87.61% confirms good agreement among record delineated.

Tsunami Vulnerability Mapping Using Remote Sensing and GIS Techniques: A Case Study of Kollam District, Kerala, India

Tsunamis are caused by the displacement of a large volume of water, generally in an ocean or a sea. Earthquakes, volcanic eruptions and other underwater explosions, landslides, glacier calvings, meteorite impacts and other disturbances above or below water have the potential to generate a tsunami. The coastal areas of Kollam district, the present study area was seriously affected by the catastr...

The Impact of Land Use/Land Cover Changes on Groundwater Resources Using Remote Sensing & GIS (Case Study: Khan-Mirza Plain)

Hydrological status and water table fluctuations are directly related to land use and/or land cover (LULC) changes in each area. In this research, the impact of LULC changes on groundwater quantity and quality of Khan-Mirza Plain, in the northern Karun watersheds, was investigated. For this purpose, Landsat 5, 7 and 8 satellite images and ETM and OLI sensors were employed to prepare the L...

Soil Moisture Estimation in Rangelands Using Remote Sensing (Case Study: Malayer, West of Iran)

Soil moisture is generally regarded as the limiting factors in rangeland production. Although many studies have been conducted to estimate soil moisture in semiarid areas, there is little information on mountainous rangelands in west of Iran. The present study aims to investigate the soil moisture estimation in rangelands as compared to the other land uses over a mountainous area in central Zag...
